What is Out-of-Home Care?

Out-of-Home Care (OOHC) refers to the care of children and young people who cannot live safely with their parents. This is often a critical step in the child protection system.

At Family Safe Solutions, we support the Safe and Supported national framework by ensuring children are placed in safe, nurturing environments—preferably with family or familiar networks—while working towards restoration or permanency.

Types of Care Arrangements

Understanding the different placement options for children.

Kinship Care

When children live with relatives or close family friends. This is the preferred option to maintain cultural and family connections. We provide Kinship Carer Assessments.

Foster Care

Care provided by authorized foster carers who are not related to the child. We help carers navigate the authorization process and provide ongoing support.

Guardianship Orders

A long-term legal arrangement where a guardian assumes full parental responsibility. We conduct assessments for Guardianship applications.
